I'm going to guess that this countdown is to Macworld San Francisco 2007, which is when Leopard is expected. Other than that, no one really knows when it will officially be released.

Isn't Macworld SF in January?
That would make it 3 months, not 5.

I really hope we don't have to wait until March for this.... :-(

According to Apple Leopard will come out in Spring of 07, I'm slowly doubting that as it says "Subject to Change". I'm sure they would like to get Leopard out near Vista's release.

I'd rather it be good in March than rushed in January.

MWSF will show a big, biig preview of 10.5 and the "iTV" device. New Macs and some sort of iPod stuff. iLife '07 and iWork '07. A bunch of bland execs will talk about universal apps and Intel Macs and Jobs will announce something new and cool.

"iTV" and 10.5 will both ship later in the quarter.

my bet is apple wants to release 10.5 in a timely manner. Unlike Vista from Microsoft.

Though, it looks like MS has made substantive moves to fix up their beta.

it actually may come out in january. that said.... doesnt mean vista will be any good. it will come out and people will likely find tons of bugs. why? because MS rushed beta.

Even if it comes out in January, it would make it the longest time between OS X releases, if I'm not mistaken. So March would be a looong time. Especially for something that was previewed months ago.

Why should Apple wait for Vista? Jaguar will surely blow Vista away, even if it comes out now, and Jaguar 6 months later...

It's called Leopard, by the way. Jaguar was 10.2.
;)

Edit: Of course, Jaguar may very well blow Vista out of the water, you do have a point :D.

Jaguar (OS X 10.2) came out over 4 years ago...

You're thinking of Leopard. :D

I guess I get my big burly felines confused. ;)

What's next, by the way?

Lion? Bobcat? Lynx? All the cool cat names seem to be taken.... :D

I think this website may be a joke, mostly because the speaker who introduces the user to the website farts at the end and says "Oops, excuse me" in a slightly sarcastic and "They're falling for it!" way.

couldn't find exactly what i was looking for and am scared to start my second thread (noob's honeymoon period and that).

With all of Leopard's features (just from the sneek peek!!) are we paying for this or will this just be a normally system update once it is released?

I wouldn't mind either way cos Leopard just looks and seems amazing!!

they will make us pay for it. They did actually give an OS upgrade for free once, though. I think it was 10.0 -> 10.1

ah ok. thanks for clarifying.....I guess that makes sense with all the new stuff we're gonna get.

MAC OS X 10.7 BRITISH TICK!

You know you want it.

<off-topic>I wonder if Jack of As the Apple Turns is still alive. It's now been a year since that site last updated, making this their longest outage ever. :( </off-topic>
