Leopard recognizing open networks as secured?

I've been looking around for a good 3 days now trying to figure out just what is causing this and I can't find anything. I found one link of someone saying to attempt turning off Airport, then removing it, re-adding it and that should work. Well I tried that and now I'm also stuck with it "connecting" and giving me a Self-Assigned IP for some odd reason, and the network is still showing up as secured while it's definitely an open network with no mac filtering or anything of the such on it. On my BootCamp'd windows end which is where I'm typing this, I didn't get a single issue connecting to the network however. Any help would be greatly appreciated cause at this point I'm at a loss for words.
