Hi,

Please could someone tell me if Leopard will be released on the same day in the UK as the USA, or will we have to wait a little longer?

Thanks.

Hi,

Will it come out on the same day in general PC store eg. PC World as the Apple Store or will there be a delay?

Thanks.

With Tiger I picked up a copy from a reseller on the same day as release. Can't remember whether that was the same with Panther though.

P.S. Don't shop at PC World. They lie to their customers and treat their neighbours like dirt.

Speculation - but how "solid" is Leopard likely to be at 10.5.0 when released?

I hopped on the mac bandwagon at 10.4 so I've never bought a new version of OS 10. What have the previous offerings been like at .0?

Some better than others. Tiger was particularly bad because the OS kernel and the way it communicates with the rest of the OS was completely changed to accommodate more than two processor cores, and this broke myriad drivers and bits of software. However, with the release of Tiger Apple stated that the OSX APIs were now locked so developers didn't have to worry about constantly rewriting their code. If they are still playing by that idea the Leopard rollout should be a lot easier, more like the Jaguar to Panther one which was relatively trouble free.

When Panther was released PC World were still stocking Jaguar as the new OS for months!

I had arguments in 3 different PC World stores because they would not accept that they were not stocking the newest OS.

My local PC world has a couple of grubby mac os software packages in among various PC utilities the only Mac OS was an upgrade to Jaguar :p
Ridiculous isn't it. Why anybody shops there beggars belief.

They also haven't got a clue what they are selling, so there's sometimes bargains to be had. ;)

I once got a 333mhz iMac, ex display for £200! no box or CD's etc they had it marked as a 233 original Bondi Blue. They did not even know how to use the System Profiler, so a mega bargain was to be had, could not pay fast enough!:)

Unfortunately it being PC World, these events happened just two weeks ago when they finally removed the computer from display :D

I think the PC World near me has a 1.67GHz PowerBook still on display and at full cost.:D

I don't find PC World to be that bad assuming you walk in know exactly what you want. Know that and your sorted. Or you could just go to Maplins ;)
