This is probably a really dumb question but I'm going to ask anyway.

Ever since I switched to an iMac from Windows. I have missed a lot of the sounds that the Windows machine would make. Stuff like startup sounds, Quicken sounds, shut off, etc.

Is there any sort of sound scheme in Leopard that allows me to assign sounds to certain activities? I looked in the sound settings and all I see are a listing of alert sounds.

To mimic the login sound, you could tell the computer to open that file at startup (this setting is in the accounts pane of system preferences)

Interesting idea. Thanks. I tried that but it leaves Quicktime open after it's finished. No big deal I guess.
