iPod touch leopard wont recognize ipod

i had tiger OS on my mac, and recently installed leopard. now, whenever i plug in my ipod, nothing is recognized. its a 32 gb touch, and on the ipod itsself when its plugged in, charges and recognizes that its plugged in, but i dont have the option to sync and itunes wont even recognize it.
what do i do?
