lepord, software update and password

i just bought this computer off ebay,,now i installed lepord.10.5
just installed a new copy of lepord,,, i bought this computer off ebay...now , when i do a software update, it asks for password and user id,,,during the installl,,i did not put that info anywhere ..what do i do...is there a place i can put my user name and password

Start up your 10.5 install disk again.

Once you are on the install screen check the menu for change password.

From there select the user you are using and change the password.

Oh, since this is a used computer, I suggest creating a new user and using that instead of the one that came with the machine.

Well if I got a new computer, I would erase and install a clean 10.5.

Did you try NOT entering a password though?

i was installing lepord,, and did not have time to finish,,so it finished installing while at work.....there might have been a place to do this in the install,,but i was not there...i got it working though..thanks al;l
