Less Than Jake Gets Arrested for disturbing the peace. Wow, it seems the newly signed on band with Warner Brothers, just got in a bit of trouble, nothing serious happened but still a good story. Amazing I didn't think people still thought about using Citizens arrest, this is a great story to must check it out! ;)

I thought all my friends were sane....then I met in this kid in 4th grade, lets go throw rocks.... through the neighbor's window....

Taken down by mall security....if thats not punk rock, I don't know what is.

Ah yes, thats what I thought... To bad Less Than Jake (since the moved to Warner Brothers) is not Ska any more :( But they still play ska type music so I'm ok with that... I am sure it was not there idea any ways.

Getting taken down by mall security isn't punk rock, it's f'n lame.

I lost all respect for LTJ when they released Anthem.

Neat! this video is like..SOOO PUNK! It's gonna get played ALL THE TIME, then all the cool kids can go to hot topic and buy the album.....at the mall.

In the immortal words of Jello Biafra:
punks not dead, it just deserves to die

Did these losers see Avril there? I think she was with a Sk8ter Boi, getting into all sorts of mischief......at the ***** mall.

Getting arrested by mall security is not a story I'd want people to know about.

haha accept that the Avril video was completely staged, can't be having their little pop star actually arrested.

I would like to take a shovel to Avril Lavigne and make her face real pretty, slapped against pavement and walls, brains oozing everywhere.

F*** your "punk rock." Bunch of pop-singing, kool-aid drinking, wannabe, daft, emo loving $@%$#@%$%R&%#^^^$#@$&*$%$##@^$#$^&$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont agree with anyone saying this was "stupid" and "childish".

Forget the punk rock crap and all that.

Think of it from a music video standpoint.

The BEST videos are done creatively. And a staged video looks just like that, staged and a movie.

Goin in a different direction is always going to garner "video success" because its different.

one thinks of:

Cake "...Long Jacket" song, just peoples real world reactions to listening to the song

FatBoy Slim "Praise You"

a few others I forget.

in any case, shooting "without permission" is illegal, but in the end would make a better video than anything else punk rockers make. thats not to say that id like the video, it just wouldnt be TOTAL crap.

You wouldn't know punk if it kicked you in the nuts. The theatrics that your modern bands do are because of punks. Punks did it just to do it, there was no "hey, this will make us look cool on MTV!!" But these guys are like "hey, how cna I make another million dollars today?"

BAH! googleymoo!!!!!!

I'm also curious as to why the pizza person had to get involved and perform a citizens's arrest....

I fail to see how this video is different, seen any Sum 41 videos? Or Panteras home videos? Gurilla video shooting does not equal different.

Although I do agree the cake & fatboy slim videos you mentioned were actually different.

Notice something about both those videos....no instruments at all.

Modern rock videos are so un-inspired, like their "creative process" must consist of "Oh let's get the band, playing their instruments...with people around!"
"ohh no, let's ad a twist and have it be people at the mall/movie theater/street instead of a sound stage!"
"GENIUS!"

I thought it had more to do with a plaza than a pizza, but who knows? Maybe it's a conspiracy and they pissed off the wrong people.

I actually liked LTJ's video for Science of Selling Yourself Short (and the song itself). Basically, while I could go for some more brass in their latest work, I know that the ska audience isn't what it used to be, so their just doin what they gotta do to survive...

Thats the way videos shot in the San Fernando valley tend to go....whether its the pizza man, cop, plummer, whatever...the random visitor always seems to get "involved".

Heh, there's a Chicago video where James Pankow (their trombone player) just sits around reading a paper because he has no part for the song. Maybe the brass for LTJ was just sitting in the food court eating burgers? ;)

Well, Less Than Jake is still cool, just not as cool... And this is actually very common for bands going to public places that are 'punks', you do that bad things happen. While I rather like them better when they were Ska, they do have new songs that are ska, just not called ska, and you can blame Warner Brothers for that, but I am sure they got the payback having there band arrested. I thought it was cool, and thought I'd post the link

Excuse me for my ignorance here but maybe you somebody can answer this for me:

What is the difference between Ska and Punk?

ska tends to have trumpets and upstroke style guitar playing. Sorta like Reggae but typically faster.
