Yes, this has to do with the update.

So the most likely penryn processor that is going to be on the new mbp are the 2.1, 2.4, 2.5 and the 2.6 right? Well, maybe not the 2.5 one since it's not a big upgrade. My question is then, is the new baseline mbp going to be 2.1 GHz? That's lower than the current one...So do you think I should still wait? It's not like I want it now either...I can wait until June or July even.

What do you guys think? Of course this is speculation...
 
Here's a thought, why don't you wait till next year or maybe a year after that. :rolleyes:
 
Apple won't downgrade it's computers after so many people have been anxiously awaiting an upgrade, so it won't change to the 2.1 GHz. And Apple probably won't go with the 2.4 for the baseline either because it only has 3 MB of L2 Cache, while the current one has 4, so again it won't downgrade. My guess is that the entry level will get the 2.5 GHz and the midrange and 17" get 2.6, with the 17 incher having the option to go up to 2.8 GHz.
