let someone use my iTunes credentials to download an app to their iPhone

I recently let someone else use my iTunes credentials to download a (free) app on their iPhone. That is, we entered my username and password when prompted prior to download.

Could this cause problems? My friend is unable to receive email on the phone and I'm wondering if the two are related or if it's a coincidence.
