So I’m an earbud guy. I travel extensively and need the portability, but I want best quality sound possible without spending thousands of dollars.
Pre iPhone X i used wired earbuds and I upgrade about once a year. I do extensive online research, read reviews and watch tech videos, then pick the top or close to the top rated.
Now that we live in a world where Apple wants you to use wireless earbuds, I’m struggling to find a wireless set I like. I do like the freedom of not being tethered to my device, but fit and function has become an issue.
The best wired earbuds I’ve used are 1more triple drivers. These are by far the highest quality build and best sound I’ve ever come across. Second to those are sannheiser momentum, great sound, but build quality is lacking to a degree. I’ve also used Bose truesound, beats ur, and Sony extrabass. While the Bose had decent sound, I didn’t like the fit or the cheap tangle prone wire. Beats were somewhat higher quality build, but the sound was horrible with bass overcompensation and washed out highs.
In the Bluetooth department I started off with Monster Achieve. While they had decent sound for the price, I struggled with the fit, and didn’t like the large batteries at the ear prices. I moved on to JBL Everest which are just horrible. I can not say enough bad things about these. While the actual build quality is Ok, the fit is terrible, the sound is mediocre, and the controls are awkward to use.
I’ve read some good things about the Jaybird X3s and the Bose Soundsport, but honestly the large at ear batteries on the soundsports and the bad experience I had with the true-sounds have turned me off of Bose.
So what are you using and why do you like them?
