Have Macos Tahoe a new memory management? Have someone tested it and can report about swap files and memory compression?

If Apple had re-written memory management, they would have mentioned it in WWDC.

What reports are you looking for? The Mac's memory management is extremely efficient. Swap isn't a bad thing, in itself.

To build on this, Apple would have needed to announce this out of necessity for developers. That being said, the unified memory architecture of Apple Silicon coupled with Mac OS' existing memory management functionality really does not need to be tweaked at all.

If you're concerned about the swap files, you could turn off VM disk swapping.
But you have to have enough installed RAM to do this.
These days, with the latest OS's, I believe that about 32gb is "the minimum" to turn off swap.

I've done so (still on Sequoia here) -- works fine, NO crashes.

"Dare I ask why?"

Why have the constant writing/reading/writing/reading/writing/reading/writing/reading (ok, you get the picture) to disk if you don't need it...?

"What happens when you use more than 32Gb...?"

When that happens, I'll let you know.
Myself, I've always been careful about app management.
When I'm done using an app, I quit it.
When I don't need to see a web page, I close it.
Tabs? ZERO tabs open, ever. I'm morally opposed to them.

In order to have a more responsive computing experience
