It is so super duper important for me to stay connected at all times to the internet I cannot begin to explain. LIVES ARE AT STAKE! [k maybe not but..] I've had a few mobile hotspots that don't seem to be any better than my iPhone. My buddy swears by this http://store.truconnect.com/devices/truconnect-mifi.html but I totally need reviews from more people that own these. Ive tried looking everywhere and cannot find anything that I deem objective, so Im asking the smartest people I know! MacRumors. Whats up guys? What mifi devices do you use for redundancy, how often do you use them and how would you rate them?

I know TruConnect is like 3g, but really connectivity is more important to me at this point than speed. My current hotspot, 4g netZero, is fast but not dependable.

As with any other mobile device, coverage where you need it matters and that varies quite a bit from market to market (and even within markets). Select your provider first then worry about the specific device.

I don't know about coverage (Sprint towers and speeds I believe), But price wise it seems like the pre paid virgin mobile hotspot from Walmart is the best bang for the buck as one of there plans was $20.00 for 1GB/30 days. If that's still around of course.

I have an Iphone 4 with Verizon. About a year ago I had the wifi hotspot activated. It worked great with excellent speeds on all tethered devices.

It was $20/mo for 2GB.

Of course, if you're not with Verizon...well...nevermind.

Tethering via SmartPhone is now included at no extra charge if you switch to Verizon's new shared data plan. For families, its a great deal in many situations. For individual plans...not so much.

Back on topic, I have a Novatel Wireless 4G MiFi unit from Verizon. I love it and it travels with me all over the country. I've used it one time internationally (emergency) and it worked great there also albeit very expensive to operate.

Great device, had mine for over a year now. No issues.

Company Hotspot-Personal Computer Use Question

I hope I am posting in the right place and correctly. Apologies if not. I have a company paid Verizon MiFi 2200 unit (unlimited usage-fixed monthly price plan) for use with a company computer. Does the hotspot or Verizon track/record web browsing history if I use it for personal web-browsing using my own personal computer? If yes, is there any way to clear that history?
Thank you

No, the mifi doesn't provide any sort of browsing history.

Unless you would lose unlimited getting hotspot on your phone would be the best way to go. Just one less thing to carry around and keep charged.
