Has anyone else experienced this? After pressing on the letter k, it suddenly detached itself. I know that this should be covered by the warranty. I just want to know what Apple usually does. What kind of repair do they do? Do they replace just the letter or the whole keyboard as well? How long should the repair take?

Thanks!

ahh yes the "k" conspiracy.

they will just replace that one key. repair should take probably only 30mins or so.

Great! I was hoping that they might replace the whole keyboard as well. Anyway, at least i don't have to wait for days before i can start using my umbp

From what ive read, Apple replaces the whole unibody...

I'm sure they will replace the whole machine!

Really, nobody here knows. Why not call apple and find out?

Seriously? Who in the right mind would replace the whole laptop just for a broken key. Really guys. Apple doesn't have MBPs growing on trees. If it's cheaper for them to replace the whole MBP then they will, but a single key probably costs 10 cents for them. And, if you passed first grade math (unlike the verizon people) 10 cents is less than 2000 dollars.

He meant the whole top casing, as I believe on the unibody it's some what of a single unit.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. I also noticed that the letter stopped responding when it got detached. I don't know if it would help
