Hello at Apple.

Now that we’re up to 26.2 I think you’ve had enough time to fix the problems with OS 26, but you haven’t, so some honest feedback.

For the first time in 40 years of using Apple products I truly regret updating the OS on my Mac to OS 26. For the record, the first Apple Computer I sat in front of was an Apple II in school when I was 16 years old.

I have tried going back to OS 15 but you make that impossible by virtue of not allowing Music and Photos to import a “newer” library version. Really! Why? Has it changed that much? I doubt there’s been any real meaningful changes that would necessitate this, and anyway, isn’t it essentially just an XML file?

I have songs in my library with more than 500 plays added in 2006 and quite obviously I would like to keep those details. The same can be said for my Photos library although I’m less concerned about that.

So now that I have no option but to use 26.2 I’ve got a couple of questions:

Why do I need to watch icons in the finder render in less than real time as I open the applications folder from the dock or in a finder window?

Why is the iCloud icon in the system settings app always a generic icon and not the iCloud icon?

Why can I not add credit card to my Wallet & Apple Pay even after repeatedly switching off and on the automatic software updates options and restarting so many times I’ve given up?

Why is it that opening the Notes app from the dock takes two clicks and when it does open it displays nothing until I click hide and show folders?

Why do other random, but always Apple apps, need two clicks to open from the dock?

Why is it when I’ve chosen to “Always Show” scroll bars that the Music app shows a false horizontal 20 pixel scroll in a list view?

Why is the Mac OS using seven or eight GB of ram to idle straight after a reboot?

This glass redesign is awful. It kind of looks alright in places but it’s way too hard on the hardware and the trade off isn’t worth it. You people must have had that discussion. Who allowed this to happen?

My 4K Apple TV, 11inch iPad Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max all struggle to render icons and even after updating to 26.2 and still display strange glitches. My favorite is when scrolling left to right on the iPhone the screen will flicker and the next screen will appear, no seamless horizontal scroll. Please give us the option to turn glass off or at least tone it down a bit.

Normally I purchase a new phone for myself every 12 or 18 months, so why do I still have an iPhone 14 Pro Max? Well, I did buy a 16 Max but went back to the 14 so I didn’t have to deal with Apple Intelligence…

And yes I would really like to update my 14 inch, M1 Pro, MacBook Pro to the new M5 Pro when it available, but to be honest like a lot of people I’m loosing interest.

All hopes are pinned on macOS 27. I hope they fix all of Tahoe's flaws there. All that's left to do is wait a year.
