After the upgrade, I got the message that httpmail as well as letterbox were being disabled when I first started Mail. I'm now realizing how dependent I was on the letterbox view pane. I checked the developer's site and it looks like he is working on an updated version. Any suggestions in the interim? I looked and did not find any similar functions offered by default in the Mail app.
Thanks,
E

I think we are just stuck waiting. Thankfully, the developer appears to be working on a fix. :eek:

Awaiting Letterbox plugin

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the Letterbox plugin for Apple's Mail app?

Does anyone know of another alternative?
Thanks.

ME ME ME ME ME! Just a little anxious for it. :D

I was looking at an alternative the other day but can't remember the name for the life of me. It seemed like it was a little over complicated for what it does and I don't even know if it is Snow Leopard compatible yet.

I spoke with Aaron few minutes ago via Skype, he gave me this info:

unfortunately i'm out of town this weekend, so if I don't get it out tonight, it won't be until Tuesday or so

If it helps...

Have you tried opening Mail in 32 bit mode?
I had to change Safari so a couple of my plugins would work, so maybe the same for Mail?

Tuesday the 8th...Letterbox day!!!

According to the developer's webpage he plans to have a Snow Leopard fix ready on Sept. 8th... Hopefully he hits the target date, but so long as it's in the works, I say we all thank him as he came up with one of the best add ons around...okay, to me it IS the best!!!:D

Absolutely necessary

Letterbox is a must! I cannot understand why Apple continues this primitive situation with mail, especially when Entourage offers much more in this respect.

Okay, so like...tomorrow, fer sure, right...please...

Oh well, looks like the September 8th release date may not come to pass...yes, I have kept my pants on, although I can't make any promises as the week progresses, as I love my Letterbox.

Here's hoping for a 9-9-9 update [undoubtedly with an Beatles tie-in] :cool:

Hmmm...since I'm the easily discouraged type, and he seems to want to discourage non-experts...I'm discouraged. :eek:

But I AM taking his advice to keep my pants on. The fact he released SOMETHING today fills me with hope!

To make it work with 10.6.1 update, open the info.plist file, at the end you'll find:

<key>SupportedPluginCompatibilityUUIDs</key>
<array>
<string>225E0A48-2CDB-44A6-8D99-A9BB8AF6BA04</string>
<string>B3F3FC72-315D-4323-BE85-7AB76090224D</string>
</array>

Add:
<string>99BB3782-6C16-4C6F-B910-25ED1C1CB38B</string>
<string>2610F061-32C6-4C6B-B90A-7A3102F9B9C8</string>

so it should look like:
<key>SupportedPluginCompatibilityUUIDs</key>
<array>
<string>225E0A48-2CDB-44A6-8D99-A9BB8AF6BA04</string>
<string>B3F3FC72-315D-4323-BE85-7AB76090224D</string>
<string>99BB3782-6C16-4C6F-B910-25ED1C1CB38B</string>
<string>2610F061-32C6-4C6B-B90A-7A3102F9B9C8</string>
</array>

Save the file and move the whole map to the Bundles map.

Restart Mail.

Having an issue with it and 10.6.1. I have edited the .plist and all functionality is restored. That is until I close the main Mail window

. CPU usage jumps to 100% and all available RAM is taken over. Only way to avoid it is to minimize

the window (not so bad now that windows minimize in Dock icons), and Mail must be force quit to function again.

Anyone else have this trouble?

Donation

Ok, so I read the guy has bought a 64 bit laptop to finish the upgrade to Snow Leopard. This inspired me to make my first donation through PayPal...a measly buck. But I figure if everyone who used the program sent him a buck he'd be a very rich man. ...okay, maybe I'm cheap, but why don't all of you who intend to download the new program send him a buck [or more]. I was surprised PayPal let me pay as little as $1, but I'll be more inclined to donate in the future!
