Hi,
I recorded some video in anamorphic widescreen and made a movie in final cut express. I know that if I want it to play back in widescreen on a standard television I need to letterbox it using the aspect ratio function in the motion tab. My question is, what is the appropriate aspect ratio according to final cut express. As far as I can tell the number that it uses to describe the aspect ratio doesn't correspond to any systen that i've seen of describing the ratio of height to width. thanks

I'm not sure if this will work in FCE, but it works in FCP. Create a new sequence that is 4:3. Drag your 16:9 sequence into the 4:3 sequence and it will automatically letterbox it. If that does not work set the aspect ratio slider in the motion tab to -33.
