lexmark x2580 problem

I have a Lexmark x2580 printer, and the two lights by the on/off switch are flashing, and the printer will not scan, print or anything, the lights usually mean the ink cartridges are about to run out, but I have changed them, and the printer still refuses to print. When a print job is sent to the printer a message comes up that says there is a print cartridge problem and thats it, can anyone help?
