LG 34UC97 Display flickering

I bought the LG 34UC97 Curved Monitor, I have it connected to my new Mac Mini by thunderbolt cable and at 50hz (I had it at 60 hz). The problem is when the display comes back on from sleep mode it flickers so much you cannot read or see screen. I have to reboot. Should I change to HDMI? What's going on, everything is new?
 
I changed over to HDMI, problem solved..may not had a good connection with thunderbolt cable..
