Hey,
I just received the LG 40WP95C-W and plugged it in via thunderbolt to my M1 MBP. I selected a resolution the display apparently can't handle, so now the screen is black and every 5 seconds it tries to switch the dock back over to the LG screen but only for a millisecond. This whole process is in a loop, so it would go on forever unless I unplugged it.

Now I connected the display via HDMI cable and it works but of course at lower resolution. With the HDMI cable plugged in, I went ahead and connected the thunderbolt cable again. The display asks if I want to switch to thunderbolt, I agree and voila I have the proper resolution.

Now when I remove the HDMI cable, the screen turns black again. On top of it when I check under system settings -> displays, it shows I have 2x LG external screens connected.

All I want is to use just the thunderbolt connection and get rid of the HDMI cable. Is there a way for the MBP to 'forget' the previous thunderbolt connection and get back to default resolution somehow, so I can just connect it via Thunderbolt and not this HDMI/TB workaround.

Thanks in advance :)

Tried to use switchresX to help with it but also no change. Anyone has experienced something like it before?
Should I get a Displayport to Mini-DP cable and try it that way? Will I still get the 5k resolution with the adapter?
