I've had my eye on this monitor for over a year. It's currently at it's lowest price ever. Originally I put it on my Amazon wish list to pair with a future purchase of a Mac Mini, but anyone have any experience with this monitor with an iMac? Specifically, a late 2014 iMac 5K, as a 2nd monitor? If I buy this, I'd be replacing an Acer G277HL Abid 27".
Monitor I'm looking at:
LG 4K UHD 27UD88-W
On sale for $429.99 (Originally $549)
Monitor I'm replacing:
Acer G247HYL bmidx
My only concern is I recall seeing in a review something about the LG needing to use both HDMI ports, in order to do 4K. Anyone know if this is true? Not that it really matters, but I'm curious if that would work fine with my late 2014 iMac. The iMac does have 2 Thunderbolt 2 ports, which, with an adapter, is how my Acer is currently used as a 2nd monitor. I think that should be obvious though.
Eventually I'd upgrade the iMac to a silicon Mac Mini, but that's not even rumored to be a thing in the near future, so...
If anyone knows anything better, please let me know. As far as I've seen, this LG is still said to be one of the best 4K content creation monitors. As in, photo/video editing content.
