Hi,

Can anyone confirm if their 4k works on a recent non-2016 macbook pro?
I'm interested in the 2014 macbook pro 15 and late 2013 macbook pro 13.

Thank you.

I realize I'd need a thunderbold 3 to 2 adapter.

You'd probably do just as well to consider other displays that will not need a thunderbolt3-to-thunderbolt2 adapter.

Just because it has some "Apple sponsorship" behind it… doesn't mean "it's better" (insofar as displays are concerned).

The 4K will NOT work with anything but a 2015 MacBook and 2016 MacBook and MacBook Pro. It is not a Thunderbolt device, it is a USB-C device. The 5k, which is a Thunderbolt device will work with some older models at a reduced resolution, if you have the Thunderbolt adapter https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207448
