LG G3 confirmed to have a 5.5-inch QHD 2K display

Could this display end up on the rumored iPhone 6 with the 5.5" screen?
Or would it not match previous screen resolutions in any way thus reducing the likelihood of it? It doesn't match the iPad Mini Retina resolution either.


What do you guys think?

LG has confirmed what the rumours speculated. The upcoming flagship LG G3 will indeed sport an impressive 5.5-inch QHD display.

In the press release, LG said that “the certified 5.5-inch QHD AH-IPS LCD panel has 2560 x 1440 pixels, four times the image resolution of HD panels and 1.8 times higher resolution than a Full HD panel. With 538 pixels per inch, this panel also meets the 100 percent RGB color reproduction standard.”

Comparing to other flagship devices on the market, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED 1080p display, HTC One M8 has a 5-inch display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with 441 ppi, Sony Xperia Z2 boasts a 5.1-inch display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a 424 ppi, and the iPhone 5s has a 4-inch retina 1136 x 640 display with a 326 ppi density.

The LG G3 has previously leaked online (shown here) and this is certainly worth bragging about. LG is holding a media event on May 27th and the G3 invite noted that “To be simple is to be great.”

I wonder if this it what Apple had been waiting for... But i'm guessing the G3 will come out with it first, so don't know if Apple will want to "follow".

I think Apple will keep the same 326 ppi on the 6. Not that I care anyways, but I'm sure that it'll cause an uproar.

Too bad the G3 will be massive and impossible to comfortably use one-handed. When Android manufacturers decide to make 4.5-4.9 display size compact phones again, I'll be interested.

Well this wasn't meant to be a thread about screen size that is comfortable to use or not, it was merely a discussion about if Apple does come up with a 5.5" screen phone would they possible utilize this screen?

Higher pixel density on the iPhone is a must! Would like it to be around 600-700 ppi. 1440p on the 4,7 inch model and 2160p on the 5,5 inch model.
