The alleged iPhone video recording interface looks very similar to the interface of the new LG Viewty 2.

How is one copying the other? Please explain what you see as similar.

The switch between Camera and Video Camera is identical and has the same touch gesture; flick of swipe the switch. The icons on Camera and Video Camera are identical.

I don't think one is a copy of the other, per se, but the two interfaces are definitely similar.

I guess it comes down to whoever got the patent first?

No, they aren't. The video camera icons are completely different (unless you count that they are both facing to the right). At most you can say is they are similar, but what more can you expect from 20 x 20 pixel icons meant to represent a camera?

LG has to be copying Apple since no other manufacturer can innovate such a technology, let alone anything better.:rolleyes:

LG doesn't need to copy apple especially when it comes to camera technology. :D

Yeah.
If LG did come up with it, it's pretty darn amazing.

There's only so many ways you can emulate a slide switch on a touchscreen. Or pretend to have a snapping shutter. Or scroll. Etc.

Nothing that was done on the iPhone is new to the touch industry. Except perhaps the idea of a rubberband rebound from an edge. I hadn't seen that one before. Unless you count casino one-armed bandit reel emulations.

Rips Off

trust me apple ripped off too many phone which where in the market already. most likely apple purchased all phones and just made there own improved one lol ... oh yah ofcourse with the apple touch

I see them as similar if you say a steering wheel in a Corvette is the same as a Ford Truck.

Personally, I like both interfaces. However, IMHO, the iPhone one being simpler is easier to understand and use. The LG one is more flashy, but took a second or two to see how the button worked.

I don't know if you know, but the LG phone did not rip off iPhone nor did the iphone ripped them off. Respectably LG has always had that kind of UI generally on their phones. If you think about it, the iPhone is Apple's first attempt at a mobile phone, (they haven't even made printers yet), wouldn't you stop to think that their ideas might have also came from other mobile phones. At the same time, gotta give Apple props for the options of so many Apps, but that iPhone design is not an apple original. In the end, they are not ripping each other off.

Yeah, I just dont see the similarity of these 2 phones. We havn't even tested out the new iPhone interface from a public release. That said, that chick in the photo is hot!

I guess he's talking about the fact that they're both grey and have pictures of cameras on them.

Which, uhm, doesn't sound like a big deal to me.

My iPhone came with an ear speaker, microphone AND external speaker. It also calls phone numbers. Alexander Graham Bell's family is going to sue Apple like mad.

the iphone UI looks cheap compared to the LG not gonna lie... i hope they improve on that before release.

phone photo trickery

WTF? How is it that the people in the picture on the phone are wearing white and the people that are posing for the picture are wearing black. Seems to me LG has a few bugs to work out.
