Does anyone know if the MBA can drive this monitor smoothly? The Intel 630 on the Mac mini is smooth, but presumably the 617 is slower.

Yes; I had a refurb 2018 MacBook Air connected to mine and it was smooth as silk.

I wound up returning the MBA for reasons unrelated to its performance with the LG UF.
