I'm noticing that the speakers on my new LG distort really easily - I.e. playing a youtube video with any talking at more than 2-3 clicks of volume, and the speakers will start buzzing.

The problem seems worse the lower the monitor is set, and the straighter the screen is angled (i.e. perpendicular to the desk.)

Has anyone else experienced this? It should be noted that my desk is glass, and reflects a lot of sound.

Yep, the speakers are a pile of crap in my opinion, and distort very easily depending on what is being played. This was the summation of my thoughts on the speakers from a post a few weeks ago... :p

At first, the loudness overwhelms you and fools you into thinking they are good speakers.

Unfortunately, after a few days you realise:
  • They are just too loud. 99% of people would never put them above half volume and with a bassy track there is serious distortion beyond 70%
  • There is no definition. The sound is flat and muddy
  • The volume scale is way off. 2 notches from bottom is easily twice as loud as 1 notch from bottom (i.e. the minimum volume), but 3 notches is barely different from 2
If you have any appreciation for sound whatsoever, your ears will want to bleed listening to them. I'm not an audiophile but I know what good sound is, and it's not this.

Thanks Broozy - mine are starting to distort at like 2 click of volume when cold with a youtube video, and have a noticeable warmup period. Are all monitor speakers this bad?

Anyone else have a bad experience with these speakers? Anyone love them?

I agree they are terrible. At first I was quite impressed to discover the sound and the way it integrates with the Touch Bar - but the distortion kicks in at about 1/4 volume and is terrible I would have been happier with no sound than this junk.

I came looking to see if it was possibly just my device and if I should send it in for repairs...

Also - is any one finding it impossible to match the white balance /colour temperature between MacBook Pro Touch Bar and this made for Mac screen..?
