Hi,

I'd appreciate some help troubleshooting.
I have a 2016 13" MacBook Pro with 2 thunderbolt port).
Plugging the 5k into the top thunderbolt port is no longer detected.
Plugging the 5k into the bottom thunderbolt port, the 5k works as usual.

So it's either the 5k, or my MacBook Pro 13", right? The cable works fine.

I took my MBP into an apple store and plugged into a 21.5" 4k lg monitor, and both of my thunderbolt ports worked! They wouldn't let me plug it into the 5k, where I am the people are more nervous and don't like you to touch stuff as much. Basically they were lazy because they had the 5k connected to a Mac mini or something and didn't want to move the cables around for me. As soon as they saw the lg 4k working they said it's an LG monitor problem. Take your monitor to LG apple won't fix it.

In system report, my Thunderbolt device (5k) isn't detected using the top thunderbolt port. But I can charge my phone through the 5k when it's connected to the top thunderbolt port. BUT the connection starts and stops (charges/stops charging every 30 seconds or so).
I can charge all peripherals fine using my bottom thunderbolt port.

So, is the problem my monitor or my top thunderbolt port on my MBP 13?

No physical damage to anything. I installed high Sierra a month or more ago and there were no problems. Thank you!
