Coming soon:

http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-32UD99

RRP at $999 so hopefully will be sold cheaper by retailers.

It will also allow brightness control via the Mac.. hopefully!

Thank you for your query regarding the LG 32UD99; I would be more than happy to assist you with this query today.

I have checked for you and this monitor has the necessary connection (USB-C) to use the touch bar to adjust your brightness levels much like on the 5K monitor. However we do not have the necessary Macbook in order to test this and confirm for you 100% until the release of the monitor near the end of this month.

Do you think this has more "work space / real estate" compared to the 34UD98 version?

This 32 inch model has a higher pixel count, yet its diagonally smaller yet taller. Does this mean you see less side to side, however from top to bottom you would be able to see more?

Would productivity for multiple windows be better on this monitor or the 34UD98?

Anyone have their thoughts?

No, productivity would be better on the 34UD98 because you don't have to do any scaling. If you want even more screen real estate, there's the 38CB99-W, but it's $1500.

The 32UD99 would require some kind of scaling, which would reduce your screen real estate. You could run it at it's native 4K resolution, but text will be super small.

You would probably run this at 1440p or thereabouts. I'd love to see what it's like at that resolution.

Do you have the link to the 34UD98? I can only find the 34UC98 but that comes only with a thunderbolt 2 connection. I just got the touchbar MacBook Pro and looking for a 21:9 monitor that supports thunderbolt3

Has anyone confirmed if you can adjust the brightness via an external keyboard (F1 & F2 keys) when using a Mac ?

I can't unfortunately. Also, my sound doesn't work, I connect my 15" MBP 2017 via USB-C with the delivered cable. It worked the first day, but not after that anymore... Anyone else have any success?

Just a follow up, in case anyone ever has the same issue. A restart of my Mac fixed the issue.

I cannot adjust volume or brightness from the Mac's keyboard, but I of course can from the monitor's own screen.

I just bought this gorgeous monitor and I have a MBP 13" (Late 2017) connected to the display via USB Type-C, but I can't control the brightness and the volume from the Apple Wireless Keyboard, neither from the MBP's Kb. I managed to solve this issue by installing a free software that allows you to modify the brightness and the volume without having to set it manually (from the LG's OSD button).
But the problem it's not solved yet, I want to use the keyboard to set the brightness and the volume. So, if you did not get to the solution, I will contact LG's Customer Service to better understand the problem.

There's another small issue, the MBP recognises the monitor as a 27" and not a 32", as shown below.

The main problem is the brightness and volume control!

There's another issue: if my MBP is in standby for hours, then, when I press the button of the keyboard (bt and Mac), mouse (bt) and trackpad (Mac) the monitor does not start up automatically even if I turn it on manually.
The OSD shows that the input is from the type C but it does not deliver any power (via type c), and the Mac does not read any external monitor. When I unplug the power supply to the display and then I plug it in again it start work normally, obviously, it works with the above-mentioned problems.

I never had that issue, I usually hit the space bar or move the mouse and it wakes up without a problem. I love the monitor, as I can now use it also for my work laptop that comes with USB-C input!
