Hi Guys, the reason i opened this thread is for us to discuss about Lifeproof cases.
Would love if anybody can report here any signs of the case failing to protect the phone from water.

So here's a little story.
I had one for the 4S.

I've used the lifeproof fre 4S for about couple months before deciding to switch to Taktik cases, there were lots of problems on the case such as loose latch after using it for couple weeks, speaker and microphone muffling issue.

I'm wondering if the 5S/5 version do have any issues or showing any signs that needed replacement for perhaps ... couple months, or year?

Have both a Fre for the 5 and 5S and to this day, no signs of tear, just wear but that I believe is normal.

i havent heard anyone that complained about waterproof issues...one good thing about the Lifeproof case is also much slimmer and less bulky than the Otterbox Defender, which is why its popular.

I took my 5S case to Bali for 12 days, so was a good test in water/surf/rain, got thrown in bags, cars, bars, around pool. Still looks like new. Wish the screen protector was as clear as OB defender. Great case when needed, not a every day case for me.

I have/had the Fré since they were released for the 5. I usually only put it on when I know I will be around water or other disasters for a phone :)

Recently I had it in my bag for work and pulled it out to put it on and noticed that the blue between the home button area and the black bezel had separated a little bit. I inspected it further and discovered the seal was actually broke as well. Not sure how it happened or when....but I am glad I caught it before my vacation to the beach. It would have been a sucky vacation to ruin my phone the first day in the water.

I contacted LifeProof. They responded and needed photos of the area. Took photos and emailed them same day as the request. Within half and hour I got an email response that they would send a replacement. I will have it before my vacation, which is awesome!

Other than this one instance, I have not had any issues with the case and I have had it for almost a year.

I just don't like how the black rubber around the screen part of the case gets worn out after a while. I found a solution. I bought "wipe new" plastic restorer from wal mart. It's in there auto part section. I wiped a small layer around the rubber with a q tip. Let it dry over night and your good to go. Just be carefull not to get it on the screen. Once it dries it won't come off. I've been doing this when the case is brand new and the rubber holds up 100% better over time. I wish lifeproof could do something different with the rubber.

Although I prefer the Lifeproof totally, I do have one complaint about the holster. The hard plastic spine made permanent scratches on the face of my case and it looks like crap so I contacted the company who explained they couldn't help me because this damage is cosmetic and didn't affect the operation of the phone.
