Dark mode.

One of the primary reasons for my jailbreaking from December 2011 to December 2020. I had dark mode long before Apple made it stock.

I stopped jailbreaking for other reasons, but not having dark mode would make me go back.

Dark mode for me for the aesthetics.
However, whenever I am writing something more than a few words, I need black text on white background.
So I adjusted Mail and Office apps accordingly.

I have the iPhone on automatic to switch at sunset, same as night shift.

I’d prefer dark mode all the time but I can’t read anything in dark mode when it’s daytime, so I gave up on that. At work, I do use dark mode all the time and I think that works okay because it’s not OLED, so dark mode is more like a dark gray. I can do okay with that for the most part so I leave it dark.

On my phone I have it switching automatically. On my desktop, where I deal with a lot of text, I stay in light mode all the time: I find large amounts of text difficult to read in dark mode (especially when it's in a serif font).

Are you being competitive about the brightness of the sun?
No. ;)

But being born in CA and having lived there for 20 years (and having worked in Palm Springs and Indio) and now having lived in Phoenix, AZ for 25 years, the sun here in Phoenix, AZ is intense on an entirely different level.

Or in other words, I was cracking a tongue-in cheek joke.

Light mode all the way. I find things "vibrate" on screen to my eyes with inverted text. I also find that when in light mode with the same content, I can dial my display brightness down a fair bit more. Oddly, I've gotten used to using Things in dark mode on my iPhone and Mac and seeing that seems "right" to me. Totally inconsistent, I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I assume people aren't bright enough to turn it on when I see phones without it engaged
You know what they say about making assumptions?
