I've recently noticed a much lighter spot slightly lower than the centre of the screen on my Retina MacBook Pro 15" late 2013.

It looks similar to the one shown in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/2nj7h7/strange_white_spot_on_late_2013_macbook_pro/ http://i.imgur.com/MgT46Eq.jpg or in this one https://discussions.apple.com/message/18715078#18715078 https://discussions.apple.com/servl...age/2-18715078-126770/450-337/Retina+Mura.jpg although I'm not sure if the cause is the same in my case. For some reason my camera does not catch it, can't show it from my point of view.

It's enragingly visible on the lightest colors (like white) and barely visible on dark colors. It looks like the lighting glows through here compared to the rest of the screen.

I've noticed it after cleaning the display using Apple-provided black cloth and now am curious if I just didn't notice it because of the dirt or if I damaged the display.

Being quoted ~$750 in my local country to replace the display makes it quite unrealistic. The laptop was bought more than a year ago without AppleCare so this route is closed as well.

Has anyone had similar problems? What did you do?

My 2012 15" had all sorts of problems. Burn in, Mara spots, exploded pixels and apple wouldn't do ****. Yes it was out of warranty but to not stand behind a product who's biggest upgrade was the screen is ******. I replaced my lcd and top cover myself for around $160. Very easy repair.
