I really am becoming frustrated with the cables. No matter the brand, I have terrible luck with them...besides the ones that go missing because of my kids...the others just stop working...or never work properly to begin with. I always buy mfi certified cables. Half the time they only work when put in in one direction. I bought cables as stocking stuffers for my kids and two cables... didn’t work both ways right out of the box...in my devices and brand ones received that day. What causes the cable to have this issue? I have it with a few other cables. Anything I can do to fix it?

Have you tried Monoprice or anker?

I have tried anker. The 4 I bought for Christmas were Anker. 2 were faulty out of the box.

Even the genuine Apple brand lightning cables have not been working for you?

I threw away an apple one the other day for the same issue. I have no idea how old that cable was as we have had cables for years obviously.

I too have issues with Lightning cables. OEM split where the plastic connects to the wire (3 of them like this right now!)

My best experience was with Amazonbasics cables. If they break they will send a replacement free of charge too. They have a new model that is braided nylon, but I have not tried those out just yet.

I have non-amazon basics braided ones and those have been my slowest cables... Not sure if the shielding in those particular ones are not as good but both are slower than my regular cables. Does amazon make you return the broken one to get the new one? I am not a fan of returns?;). One of my braided ones stopped working properly this weekend. In the trash it goes.... but to be fair it is probably 2 years old.

Usually they do not make you return the broken cable, it varies by agent. However you need to buy the actual Amazonbasics product, they can't warrant other companies product.

Here is their latest. I have not been able to try these out just yet as I have their standard cable working just fine for now.
