Hi everyone. I just came across a new apple lightning cable at a store that advertized they sold real / original apple lightning cable for a cheap price.

I asked to see it and the packaging says foxconn with a serial number on it. I was skeptical but the cable looks so real that I decided to buy it anyways since it’s just $7.

I then went to Apple’s website that shows the difference between fakes and real cables. This cable checked all the boxes of the authentic without a sign of a fake cable which Apple showed in their website. Even the serial number is 12 digits and it Says designed in California and assembled in Vietnam.

So I’m now confused, is this a real cable or a fake one? I am afraid of using this for my iphone X as it may cause damages? Please help.

I’m not singling you out but your question is so common from my friends and family.
Sure they have purchased a number of crap cables.
I don’t think you’ll hurt your phone by using the cable.
Use the 5w charger and see if it works.
The iPhone is smart enough and will determine if the cable is made for iPhone ready. If it isn’t it won’t allow it to charge the phone.
