Lightning to 30-pin Adapter

What I want to know is, will this adapter plug into the OLD 30-pin cord that uses the Firewire pins to charge and charge the iPhone? I cannot find a clear answer on this and it is the make or break for me. My car has the 30-pin ipod cord built in but it is the old kind that only charges thru Firewire and it stopped charging my phones when the 3G came out.....
