Lightning to SDcard reader - Error Message

I just purchased a Lightning to SD card reader.

When I plug it into the Lightning port on my iPhone 5, I see the error message, "This Accessory is not supported by iPhone" as you see can see here.

The error message appears whether or not I have a SD card in the connector.

Any ideas?
