Lightning to USB adapter issue

I just picked up a Lightning to USB adapter, so I can use it to move pictures from my camera when I don't have the laptop.

I plugged it in and it says it's not support. Is this the same for everyone? I don't have a newer iPad with Lightning support, so I can't test the adapter.

The camera adaptor is not designed to work with anything other than the iPad.

It won't work with iPhone or iPod touch.

I was hoping it would work with the iPhone as the original 30-pin adapter worked on my iPhone
