iPad mini Lightning To USB

Hi,
I've heard mixed things abou pt the lightning USB camera adaptor that it doesn't work with anything other than cameras is this true? Or can I use it with my MIDI keyboard as I did with my iPad 1's camera connection kit?

I use mine with a usb audio interface all the time to record in garageband, etc. My MIDI interface doesn't seem compatible, but it's older and requires a driver install on the Mac to work with Logic so it's not a huge surprise for me that it doesn't work. I'd imagine newer interfaces will probably work just fine.
