In the cool neighborhood of LA
I am new to the trial version of Lightroom and I am curious about how you organize your pictures - inside and outside of LR.

What info do you add when you import?
Do you let LR create folders by date on your disk - does that get too cluttered too quick?
Do you organize/re-organize the folders within LR or do you only do collections?
Do you rename every picture? Or do you just add keywords?

Thanks for your input!

im not a pro... but for what its worth, been using LR for a bit

a) What info do you add when you import?
- after i import, i) accept/reject ii) add rating iii) add keywords iv) use color coding for 'further work'

b) Do you let LR create folders by date on your disk ...
nope, i use top level for 'year' and then put in folder for each 'shoot'
i.e. i use like 'rolls' in iphoto

c) Do you organize/re-organize the folders within LR or do you only do collections?
folders... not founds a use for collections. possibly because i use keywords so extensively!?

d) Do you rename every picture? Or do you just add keywords?
rename - no, though perhaps i should - but afraid of dups
keywords, yup, add lots ... and use the heierachy to keep things organised
i use keywords, for not only subject, but also tagging photos on how they are used/filtering

what do people use collections for? and why use over keywords?
