After reading up on this technology, it appears as though the DVD-R isn't supported whereas DVD+R is supported.

Does anyone know if DVD-R is expected to be a supported format and if so, would existing drives be able to burn DVD-R discs with a firmware update?

Thanks

Hi, after many e-mails and calls to HP (was their burner to start this process), TDK (for dvds), Verbatium (for dvds) and a call to Lacie since they use this type of burner in their externals and there were no plans to make dvd-r format dvds for some time. So with that in mind I bought a LaCie burner without the Lightscribe technology. Who knows with the whole Blu-Ray topic if Lightscribe will carry over or even catch on  I really like the concept just change the dvd format to +/- and give a true grayscale burn on the top surface and not the goldish dull look :)
