Does anyone have any insight, or thoughts if Apple Stores will be carrying a 32gb config SKU? I know you can always CTO, but they also sometimes/usually carry a maxed out-ish config for in store pickup.

Thanks!

Apple stores generally just carry the configurations that are presented when you first select the model you want. Any increases in memory, or SSD size, beyond that configuration is usually a custom order. The chances of finding one with 32GB is not entirely zero, but is close.

Stores usually carry at least one "BTO/CTO" option which they hold in stock.

Quickest way to check is to use the Apple Store app and play with the configs to see what's available in local stores.

Edit - just had a look at the UK app and can't see anything for the Airs other than standard builds.

Yea I played with different variations as well. No luck here in the US other than the standard SKUs.

You might check in a few days. For launches Apple focuses on the standard models. But some CTO models typically rotate in and out of larger stores starting a few days after launch. There used to be an app called InventoryWatch that would scour the website automatically when you selected a product and a store, but it doesn't seem to have been updated in a while (it doesn't even list the iPhone 16e which has been out for a few weeks now).

Stores may randomly carry some top-spec models. I've found that major Apple Stores like Fifth Ave NYC will have some BTO options in stock. You can try building the BTO you want and see if any stores have it nearby for pickup. The charger option can sometimes make or break it so make sure to play with that.

There have been retailers who were known to carry actual stock of BTO models, but those shops are few and far in between. Mostly everyone carries the same set of standard models.

If you're anywhere near NYC, B&H is one of those retailers.
