I hope this thread belongs to the right category

Do you think MacRumors should have a 'like' button for users to like fellow users' posts? It would be Facebook-ish but rather useful I guess! Especially when you can use the 'like' button to acknowledge somebody's reply to your question or to show that you like someone's post!

Just a question/suggestion.

Isn't that what the "Vote Up/Vote Down" buttons are for?

Yes, but I think the OP would like to see some more Social elements added to the forum, like the ability to follow users and to view what they "Like"

I myself have come across some forum users whom I generally agree with their point of views, so I think the OP is proposing that we have the ability to "follow" these users that we like and if they come across a story or post on this forum that they find interesting and "Like" it, their might be a chance that I would like it as well.

Thank you, that's why I mean. Thanks upaymeifixit for the tip! I haven't used it before

No. We don't need any more voting-like popularity systems here.

I "like" your post. ;)

To the OP. If you right-click on a users name, you can add them to your contact list and also "friend" them. I'm not sure what it does other than highlight their name in forum spy.

I agree with both points on this one. It would be cool to see what users you generally agree with, but it would also make it a little too social.

I'm split.

It's cool to see all the votes on people's posts in this thread though!

In my opinion, we don't need another 'social aspect' to MR.

We're fine the way it is. The down/upvoting scheme works (Somewhat).

I'd like a separator, sort of like Yahoo Answers, where other than the OP, you can view the posts in a thread based on number of likes. -Don't know how hard that would be to implement though. I mean, if you can do it by time (What it is now, older posts are at the beginning, unless you specify in UserCP), you can do it by the number of thumbs up?-
