Geohot just released his fifth version of limera1n since Sunday. This version is called RC1 and geohot states that this is the "out of beta version". What he does not explain is whether one has to restore to 4.1 and than install the latest version or whether it is possible to install the new RC1 version over the previous version??!!

Why would you install limera1n over a previous version on your phone? If it worked on a previous beta, why jailbreak again?

If you are Not having any problem, you don't need to do anything. If you are having some issues, them you restore and re JB using the latest version

When I updated from Beta 2 to Beta 4 I didn't bother restoring at anytime. All I did was redownload the new Beta Limera1n, then clicked "make it ra1n" again and everything went perfectly, didn't even have to reinstall Cydia. So I'm thinking that when I update my JB to the RC1, I won't even restore, I don't think it's necessary, just for all those out there wondering if a restore is required.

that's because you didn't do anything when you re-run it, all the code was already there, so the script just quit. If you are Jailbreak with no issue you don;t need to bother with these updates. Limera1n is like a screwdriver that you use to screw something in, if you got your screw in, you don't need a new screwdriver... however if you were unable to screw it in, them try using the newer screwdrivers

Wow. You are the Michio Kaku of MacRumors. :p

RC1 - out of beta! afc2, reliability improvements, no reboot for cydia, 2kb smaller

Damn is it worth it to do all over again? Reliability improvements where/how?

I'm on Beta 4 and it seems to be working ok

if you jailbroke and you have no problems, then like others said, there is no need to use the newest version... if its jb it means its jb..

No I'm pretty positive that it updated my JB to what I was saying, it went into DFU, redisplayed the Limera1n droplet, then I had to restart. It ran everything exactly as it did the first time. Nothing quit or exited. And I'm planning on doing it for the RC1, so we'll see if it works for me again

So I can run the RC1 jailbreak over the top of Beta 4?

:(:( no need to unless you got issues, in that case, restore and run the most recent version, if you are running fine, them you don't need to re jb, limera1n is a use once and forget about type of app

Yeah man, heh, heh, that screwdriver analogy is, like, heavy. Pass the bong.
