Limewire/Transmission don't work on iPhone tethering?

I am using an internet connection via iPhone tethering (O2 UK). Transmission and Limewire do not seem to work. Does anyone know why, and how to get them working?

i would expect P2P to be blocked by O2.

besides why on earth would you even want to do that on a tethered connection !

Because unfortunately it is the only Internet I can get! There is no broadband in my area!
