I have 10 apple store gift cards. based on what im reading you can only use up to 8? is this true? IT seems strange that apple would penalize me for having gift cards to their store and not let me use it to put toward something. Anyone know if the store purchase is different?

It would appear that 8 gift cards are the maximum you can use in-store for one transaction.

“You can use up to eight Apple Store Gift Cards for one transaction when you purchase at an Apple Store”

https://www.apple.com/shop/help/gifting
I saw that but wondered if anyone has experience where the store is more lenient. I just tried on the app and it only let me add 4. So it's not even consistent.

I think the online store will only let you use 8 also. This was disappointing for me, as I use an Apple Reward credit card, and get them often @ only $25 each.

Maybe you can call Apple and see if they could combine the amounts of separate cards onto one card.

I'm going to the store today. I just am surprised no one has dealt with this in stores and has gotten a good result

If I recall correctly, the store will not allow you to use more than eight gift cards at one time, you would have to split the purchase someway if you wanted to pay for it alternatively.

You can change your reward preference with the Barclay credit card and they will send you $50 or $100 dollar gift cards after you earn the points for them.

Worse case scenerio:

You have 16 gift cards to use. Buy something worth 8 gift cards. Buy another thing worth 8 gift cards. Return them both.

You now have 2 gift cards. Buy the thing you want.

(They don't refund something bought with 8 gift cards by reissuing 8 gift cards)

Thanks, I saw this on the website a while back and didn't think of any reason why increasing the gift card amount would be beneficial to me, as getting the maximum amount back as soon as possible is usually the smart financial play.

This was before I recently tried to buy something on the online store a found that there is an 8 card limit, so now I found a good reason to increase the amount of the redeemed gift card.

I will probably change it soon.

the app doesn't let me do more than 8, but in stores there is no limit so that's good.

the store has no limit. I just went to the store and I was able to use them all.

Great that you were able to use them all at once! But it's interesting because when I bought an item in the Apple Store in London's Covent Garden last year, they wouldn't let me use more than eight cards (I actually had twelve to use!! got from birthdays, Christmas, father's day, etc.)

So there's definitely some inconsistency, there...
