Limit TM backups (Size) via CL?

I was browsing the Apple Discussions site and came across a very interesting post:

There is a setting that you can apply to supposedly limit how much disk space TM will use for its backup. I don't know yet if it works. You do it by issuing this from Terminal:

defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine MaxSize 102400

This is supposed to limit the size of the TM backup to 100 GB (change 102400 to fit your needs). I had this in effect while using another network drive, but I never reached the limit, so I don't know if it works. Use at your own risk.
