I’m considering buying an Apple Watch series 3 for my son who is 11. I don’t want him to be overly distracted with it. I’d probably disable Siri and limit apps. I don’t want him to be able to be constantly asking Siri questions, playing music on it, etc.

can I easily disable functions like Siri and music, etc.?

he doesn’t have a phone, so id be setting it up with my phone. So I’d like to disable the phone, email and messages.

I like the quality of the Apple Watch, and we would use features like watch faces, alarms, photos, etc. I just don’t want him to be overly distracted with it.

please let me know if this is possible and makes sense.

Thanks.

I don’t know— as a mother, I don’t like the idea of having my daughter’s watch set up to my phone. plus, that would preclude me from being able to have my own watch paired with my phone. You can only pair one at a time. I don’t really see the point of giving a kid a watch with the phone and messages turned off—those are the very reason I’ve considered getting my daughter one. She isn’t responsible enough not to lose a phone, but I think she would do ok with something strapped to her. The problem is the expense of paying for both a phone cellular plan and a watch cellular plan.

my kids are grown up now but thinking back ..... you are disabling all the features that an AW is useful for IMHO. If you are buying an AW just for faces, pictures and alarms then I would say you are wasting your money. Of course only my opinion:)
