Hey so I've been recording from an external mixer with 2 built in soundcards (24 bit digital) but am always getting distortion at some stage of the recording.

I've been looking on forums and one said to "adjust the recording level of your line input from your soundcard", but of course this was in reference to a PC.

Anyway, how can I adjust the volume at which my line in is recorded? I've tried messing around with gains in the recording software and on my mixer but to no avail, so i think this could be the problem.

Here is the forum thread with this advice (I have exact problem as the question posted):

On OS X go into 'System Preferences' and select 'Sounds', then go to the 'Input' tab. There you should see a slider to adjust the incoming volume of the line in feed.
