Line in to headphone output

Hey everyone,
Basically I want to output whatevers in my Line In to the Line Out which is my headphones. At the moment I can do this in Garageband by selecting the Line In as an audio track and clicking monitor so it outputs to my headphones, but thats slightly annoying. Is there anyway to do this without Garageband running?

You might want to try looking in the system preferences under the sounds.
