I have a Macbook Air 7,2 that has a vertical line that stops half way down the screen. It shows on the screen pre-boot and doesn't show on screenshots post-boot

. It's about 60mm long and 4 pixels wide. I'm used to seeing lines all the way down the screen from some hardware failure , but this is new on me. I guess this means a new display unless anyone knows any simple fix?

Does it react to finger-pressure in any way?

One of my Dell P2715Q's seems to randomly get a 1mm-W full-vertical black strip, and squeezing the frame at the top makes it disappear for the next week (or so)...

Hi Splifingate , I tried pressing the screen over the line and it reacted instantly , spread across for 30mm or so , and now I have 2 lines! So I think it's terminal.

Aye; that it may very-well be . . . sorry I helped make it worse :(

But, if there's some sort of magic-press (like what I found through repeated pressing on my LCD display), you may be able to get it to some sort of normal, if but temporarily.

Still, ~10y of quality use is a pretty decent run, no?

That is "Time to buy a new Mac" early warning system being activated. 10 years of use is a good run and the remaining clock is ticking.
