Line spacing, so ugly - can it be changed?

I just updated my iMac to Big Sur. Big mistake it seems. WTF are Apple doing? Have you noticed the huge line spacing in everything from menus to Mail? Makes you able to see so much less, such a waste of space. And worse readability too! Such an anti-productivity update they came out with here. Am I alone on this!?!

Any way to change this through Terminal?

This is real bad on laptops where screenspace is already small.
