I plan on waking up at 7 and going to AT&T or Best Buy around 7:30.. Hoping that not many people are there where I live... (Atwater/Merced in California)

Once again, Apple's done a stellar job of ramping up the buzz and rampant anticipation. On the way to work this morning the line I saw as I glanced at the mall was amazing. I won't even try to estimate the number of people but it was easily a city block long. Tonight returning home (I go by on my normal commute) the line was twice as long. Simply mind boggling. Apple could not have orchestrated this any better. They pull it off year after year.

I live 1.5 minutes from an at&t store. I figure Ill wake up at 5 and ride over there and check it out...Im 45 mins north of the city, so Im hoping there wont be a line... heh

Good luck with that…let us know how it goes.

The last time I lined up at an Apple store was for the 4 release a few years ago. I got there shortly after 7 AM and there were already about 600 - 700 people in line! It took about nine hours or so to get through the line.

That was the first and last time for me. No thanks!

For the 5, I ordered online and it was delivered to me at my desk on launch day at around 9 AM. FTMFW :D

Local Apple store said line starts at 6AM. Although mall security said 8AM. Go figure.

A bit different this year though...no pre-order for the 5s, and other countries are all getting 7-10 days for shipping. So it's either spend 12 hours in line or wait over a week. Neither is a great scenario.
